NAUDL National Debate Expo Fall

All competition rounds will be hosted on Yaatly.

Please make sure to register your team and invite debaters.

 

We are excited to host your league for our National Debate Expo! Please register your teams for the appropriate divisions after consulting with your league staff. The National Debate Expo features:

  • A Learning Track for debaters newer to the activity eager to grow their skills.

  • The Return of our Round Robin with the addition of 2 judge panels. The winners will be awarded the Leonard A. Gail Award.

  • Coach Professional Development aimed to provide tools for growth and model argument preparation activities.

The Expo will be help from Oct. 1-3. Final schedule and registration details will be posted soon. In the meantime let us know if your league will be attending and the anticipated attendance for each sections below.

NOTE: This event is open to registrants from urban debate leagues affiliated with the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues. If you have questions about the event or being moved off the wait list please reach out to the programming staff at your league.

Learning Track

Each league can bring up to 4 debate pairs to participate in a track of seminars, argument prep and scrimmages to prepare for debates on the Water Resources topic.  Debaters will use a limited evidence set.  The schedule includes time for argument preparation and 3 scrimmages. There will be opportunities for post round feedback and speech redo's.

The Learning Track will use a closed evidence set featuring arguments from the National Debate Coaches Core Files:

Fracking Aff/ Case Neg

Lead Water Aff/ Case Neg

Disadvantages

Business Confidence

Federalism

States Counterplan

Leagues need to provide one judge and one workshop facilitator for every two debate teams entered. Please ensure all judge philosophies are posted on Tabroom.com by September 30. 

Round Robin: 

The Expo's competitive round robin will feature 20 teams from across the network competing for the Leonard A. Gail Award .  Each league is guaranteed one team of high school debaters to participate.  Leagues are also invited to submit an alternate team. Alternate teams will be admitted as space is available.  Alternate teams nominations must be provided before the registration deadline.

This is a great opportunity for debaters seeking national level competition with a chance for constructive feedback and growth.  All entries must disclose their 1AC by the posting deadline. 

There are no evidence or argument limits on this division.

Coach Professional Development

Professional development sessions will be offered for coaches.  Coaches may also participate in or observe argument preparation workshops with the learning track.
