Dear WVSDA Coaches:

The WVSDA Fall Congressional Debate Tournament will be held at Parkersburg High School on Saturday, September 25, 2021.

 

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

8:00 AM to 8:30 AM - Registration

9:00 AM to 12:00 PM - SESSION 1

12:00 PM to 12:50 PM - Lunch

1:00 PM to 4:00 PM - SESSION 2

4:30 PM - Awards

ENTRIES:

This event is not limited to novice students.

Maximum student entries per school: 10

Minimum judge entries per school: 2

Legislation due date: Friday, September 10, 2021, at 5:00 PM via Tabroom upload.

Student entry due date: Friday, September 17, 2021, at 5:00 PM. (Changes may be made through Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 5:00 PM without penalty.)

Judge entry due date: Friday, September 17, 2021, at 5:00 PM. (Changes may be made through Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 5:00 PM without penalty.)

Student entry fee: $8.00 per entry

LEGISLATION:

Submission of legislation (bills/resolutions) is optional, and the docket may be supplemented with NSDA Congress Legislation, if necessary.

Schools with 7 or more entries may designate up to four pieces of legislation as PRIMARY. Schools with 5 or 6 entries may designate up to three pieces of legislation as PRIMARY. Schools with 3 or 4 entries may designate up to two pieces of legislation as PRIMARY. Schools with 1 or 2 entries may designate one piece of legislation as PRIMARY.

To designate a piece of legislation as PRIMARY, label the legislation as such in ALL CAPS in the upper right-hand corner and categorize it as PRIMARY when uploading it into Tabroom.

Shortly after the deadline for submitting legislation passes, a packet of legislation will be made available in Tabroom. Only the legislation in that packet may be taken up during the competition.

AWARDS:

Awards will be presented to the 1st through 6th speakers and to the Best Presiding Officer (in each House if there is more than one House).

LUNCH:

Pizza, soda, and snacks will be sold as concessions during the lunch break for any interested students. Lunch will be provided for coaches and judges.
