Entries are due by Tuesday, March 2  at 11:55 p.m.

Drops & name changes will be taken until Monday, March 22  at 9:00 a.m.

Starting Monday, March 22 at 9:00 am, you will be charged based on the OSSAA Speech Manual.

ASYNC Videos must be uploaded by Tuesday, March 23  at 8:00 p.m.

It is each coach’s responsibility to make sure their students link work.

The videos need to be set where they can be viewed by anyone with the link.  

Also, while you are checking to make sure the links work, check and make sure your students’ videos are not over time. 

Performances that are between 16 & 29 seconds over time will be penalized. 

Performances that are 30 seconds or more over time will be disqualified.  

 

Judges must be confirmed by Friday, March 12  at 11:55 p.m.

You will register your judges on tabroom.   You do not have to register your judges on ossaaspeech.com

 

The judge requirements are listed below:

1 CX Team = 1 judge, 2 teams = 2 judges, 3 teams = 3 judges ….

2 LD/PF Debaters/Teams = 1 judge, 3-4 = 2 judges, 5-6 = 3 judges ….

1-5 IE Entries = 1 judge, 6-10 = 2 Judges, 11-15 = 3, 16-20 = 4, 21-25 = 5 judges, 26 – 30 = 6 judges ….

 

Judges can count as both a speech judge and a debate judge, but you need to make sure they are entered as both. 

 

ASYNC Judges

A judge needs to be available to judge at least 2 rounds on Wednesday, 2 rounds Thursday, and 2 rounds Friday to count; you may combine partial judges to meet your required number.

Ballots will be released at 8:00 am and due at 9:00 p.m. each day. 

It is each coach’s responsibility to make sure their school’s judges know when their rounds are.

You will be able to see your judge’s schedule in tabroom.  

Ballots need to be started by 6:00 p.m.  

We will start reassigning judges if ballots have not been picked up and schools will be charged.     

If you have entries in Extemp, you need to note if your IE judges can judge extemp.

Please put the judging/competitive experience in the judge registration notes.    

Coaches will be expected to judge. 

 

ASYNC Schedule

Prelim 1:  Wednesday, March 24

Prelim 2:  Thursday, March 25

Finals:  Friday, March 26

I will send prelim results for coaches to check as soon as all ballots are in on Thursday, March 25th. 

You will need to notify me before Friday 9:00 a.m. if you see problems with results.  

I will release the Finals ballots at 10:00 am on Friday, March 26.  

 

Extemp will take place on Friday, March 26

Students need to be in the draw at least 15 minutes before the draw starts.

Judges need to be in their rooms at least 15 minutes before their round starts.  

 

Tentative Friday Extemp Schedule

Round 1 Draw:               4:00

Round 1 Extemp:           4:30

Round 2 Draw:               6:00

Round 2 Extemp:           6:30

Finals Draw:                   8:00

Finals Extemp:               8:30

 

Debate will take place on Saturday, March 27

Students & Judges need to be in their rooms at least 15 minutes before their round starts or as soon as their previous round has finished.  

Rounds will start at 8:00 a.m. 

 

We will not know for sure how many rounds each division will have until the entry is finalized.  

If eight or fewer debaters/teams are entered, the round-robin system will be used.

If nine debaters/teams are entered, the four debaters/teams with the best records from preliminary rounds will advance to semifinals. 

If ten or more debaters/teams are entered, eight debaters/teams will advance to quarterfinals and the double elimination bracket will be used.  

 

Please have your students and judges test their technology and connections before the tournament starts.  

 

Results and Awards

I will email all results ASAP once debate is finished on Saturday, March 27.  

You are welcome to pick your awards up. 

Let me know if you would like to pick your awards up and we can arrange a time to meet. 

I will mail awards not picked up on Monday, March 29.
