We are happy to invite you to the 2021 McAlester High School Speech & Debate Tournament. 

This year, we will be a virtual tournament with asynchronous speech and live rounds in Policy, LD, and PF debates and in foreign and domestic extemp.

We will be hosting all classes: 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, Novice, and Champs. This will be a qualifying tournament and will be run according to the rules set forth by the O.S.S.A.A. (Please see the speech manual for more information). We will offer all sanctioned events. 

SCHEDULE (Very subject to change!) 

All entries will be due by Tuesday, Jan. 26

All speech videos will be due by Wednesday, Jan. 27

Thursday

All prelim ballots in asynchronous events will be sent out. 

If an event has enough entries to need a semifinal, they will be due at 9 AM on Friday. If an event is straight to finals or will only need a prelim/final, it will be due on 9 AM Saturday.  

Friday

8 AM: Semifinals in asynchronous IE will be sent out if needed, due by 9 AM Saturday.

4 PM: Debate Round 1 

6 PM: Debate Round 2

8 PM: Debate Round 3

We will single flight if possible, but it usually is not possible. 

Saturday

8 AM: Finals in asynchronous IE will be sent out, due by 2 pm. 

Specific times for live rounds on Saturday will be decided as we see the number of entries in debate and extemp, but Debate rounds will happen in the morning, and extemp will happen in the afternoon.

Drops/Adds: There will be a $5 fee for each event dropped or added after Wednesday at 5 pm. 

Invoices: Invoices will be available on tabroom.  Please make checks payable to MHS Theatre.

Awards: We will not have awards this year but we will announce sweepstakes and recognize them on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mhsspeechandtheatre

Judges:Judge Lists are due by Wednesday at 5 p.m. Judge requirements are as outlined in the OSSAA manual.  The missing judge fee is $25. I would certainly rather have your judges than your money. PLEASE NOTE: We have no built-in former CX/LD judges. It is especially important that you meet the requirements of debate judges. We appreciate your help with this.
