Hello Speech & Debate Community!

Crater High School (Central Point, OR) is happy to host a free night of virtual Big Questions Debate! This is both a fundraiser and a chance for students to try debate for the first time, practice this style of debate before qualifiers, and explore the Big Question that this resolution poses. Students can compete as a team of two or as individuals. The current topic is

Resolved: Mathematics was discovered, not invented.

We will have three rounds of BQ Debate this evening. All debaters will debate all three rounds. We will power match and do a quick awards announcement at the end of the night to honor the students with the most wins. Please do not enter debaters who do not plan on participating in all three rounds of debate. 

Please provide one judge per two teams. Judges may end up judging their own students. Please let me know if your judges should not judge students from your school. While I will do my best to give judges breaks throughout the event, please make sure all judges attend the training and that all students check in by 4:15 PST. 

We will run this tournament using breakout rooms in Zoom. Please use this link to join. Competitors should change their names to their code, and judges, please start your name with "Judge". An invitation to this Zoom is also pasted below. 

Competitors are asked to keep their cameras on for the competition, but please use "mute" when your opponents are speaking.
