October 26 Update

We have added a few things to the Main page, mostly in the column to the right:

Payment information:  we have a PayPal account for electronic payment and a mailing address for checks.

Permission waivers:  we have a school form and individual student forms, and instructions returning them to us.

Parli Style Guide:  this is an updated version of our Guide from last year, and similar to that used by the Yale and Columbial parli tournaments.

We expect to add a Procedures document later this week.

We have accepted most of the teams on the wait list other than TBAs.  If you have TBAs that have been accepted, or plan to fill in more TBAs, please do so soon.

We also remind you that each school should provide experienced judges to cover their entries.  Please enter them into tabroom as soon as you can.

Finally, a reminder that our Novice division is for debaters in their first year of high school debate, and excludes Juniors and Seniors regardless of their experience.  Middle school debate experience does not count, but anyone who debated as a high school student last year must debate in Varsity.

Email us if you have questions or comments.

Original Post

On behalf of the Vassar College Debate Society, we invite you and your team to the fifth annual Vassar College Invitational Tournament from Saturday, November 7nd to Sunday, November 8rd, 2020. This online tournament will consist of competition in Varsity and Novice Parliamentary Debate.  We expect that this tournament will qualify for NPDL TOC points.

This is Vassar’s fifth consecutive year hosting our high school tournament. We hope to replicate the success of previous years by making our tournament as efficient, well-organized, and enjoyable as attendees have come to expect. This year, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have decided to move the tournament to the NSDA Campus online platform.

Please download the complete invitation posted to your right.  If you have additional questions or need assistance, please email us at vassarinv@gmail.com . Please do not hesitate to contact us if your team is experiencing financial difficulties.

Best wishes for the start of the school year – we look forward to seeing you virtually this November!

Sincerely,

The Vassar Debate Association
