Reagan Dutch Invitational

2020 — Online, TX/US

The 22nd Annual Ronald Reagan “Dutch” Invitational
Speech and Debate Tournament

Dear colleagues,

We are proud to announce the twenty-second (and first virtual!) Ronald Reagan “Dutch” Invitational that will take place on October 16-17, 2020.

We are offering three preliminary rounds of novice and varsity CX debate, and four preliminary rounds of novice and varsity LD and PF debate. We are also offering two preliminary rounds of all the individual events and duet/duo, including novice divisions in prose and poetry.

We will be running a fully asynchronous tournament for all individual events (except for Extemp). The deadline for submitting performances will be Tuesday, October 13 by 6:00pm CST.

Student Congress legislation used will be Items 1-15 in Prelims, and Items 16-30 in Super Congress. Prelim rooms may choose to use direct questioning by vote, but finals will use direct questioning.

We will NOT break brackets in debate.

We will use the following motions for World Schools Debate:

WSD Round 1: This House regrets the narrative that nuclear energy is dangerous.

WSD Round 2: Impromptu

WSD Round 3: This House believes that Russian containment is a priority for geopolitical stability.

WSD Semis: This House would provide a universal basic income.

WSD Finals: Impromptu

The Reagan “Dutch” Invitational is a qualifier for the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC)! Bids will be awarded based on the number of entries in each qualifying event.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to enhance your tournament experience!

Please email Brian Eanes at for any speech questions, and Philip DiPiazza at with any debate questions.
