North Medford Invitational

Dear Coaches and Students,

NMHS Speech and Debate invites you to participate in the North Medford Invitational on Saturday, December 8th at North Medford High School.

Registration

All registration will be online at http://nmhstournament.tabroom.com

Registration will open on Saturday, November 1st at 5 pm.

Deadline for adds is Wednesday, December 5th at 11:55 pm.

Deadline for drops (without fees) is Thursday, December 6th at 8:00 pm.

Deadline for drops is Friday, December 7th at 8:00 pm.

After the final deadline, please notify staff at the registration table of any further drops or email nichole.barber@medford.k12.or.us, with your team, the name of the student, and the event as soon as possible. This will help us to run the tournament more efficiently.  Your team, however, will still be charged registration fees for any drops after Thursday, December 6th at 8:00 pm.

 

Events

All events are senior division events (open)

IE’s include: Humorous, Dramatic, Duo, Poetry, Prose, Impromptu, Extemp, Inform, Oratory, ADS, POI, and Radio.

Debate includes: Big Questions, Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Parli

We will use the November/December topic for Lincoln Douglas: Resolved: In a democracy, the public’s right to know ought to be valued above the right to privacy of candidates for public office.

We will use the November/December topic for Public Forum: Resolved: The United States federal government should impose price controls on the pharmaceutical industry.

 

Fees

School Participation Fee - $25

Single-Entry IE’s - $8 per event

Partner IE (DUO) - $10 per event

Single Entry Debate  & Big Questions - $10

Partner Debates - $15

Uncovered Judging Fees - $10 for every I.E. entry (1 judge covers 5 entries), and $20 for every debate entry (1 judge covers 2 entries)

 

Food Options

Concessions (snacks, beverages) will be available to purchase in the library. There are local restaurants within walking distance of campus.

Food, drinks and coffee will be provided for judges and coaches in TA-3.

 

Judging

Judges should bring smart devices if possible and check in to TA-3. (Debate and IE ballots will be online. Judges wishing to enter comments on a computer can use a chromebook in TA-3). TAB will be in TA-4.

 

Patterns

Students may be double entered in either pattern, unless they are entered in a debate event in that same pattern.

We will run rounds earlier if possible. Final rounds will be rolled out as we have judges available.
