Event Description:

Liam Benavides Memorial Duo Interpretation

Named in memory of Liam Benavides, the 2024 Middle School State Champion in Duo Interpretation

Liam Benavides was a beloved and deeply involved student at Tuloso-Midway Middle School. A gifted performer, he poured his heart into theatre, band, and speech & debate, shining on every stage he graced. His passion for performing was undeniable, but even more remarkable was the person he was offstage. Liam had a rare ability to lift the spirits of everyone around him. No matter what challenges he faced, he walked into every room with a smile, radiating warmth and kindness. He never hesitated to help others, always the first to reach out to someone in need or sit with anyone eating alone. Inclusion wasn’t just something he believed in—it was how he lived. More than his talents, Liam is remembered for his unwavering positivity and unshakable faith. At tournaments, he never saw rivals—only new friends waiting to be made. His kindness and optimism were so inspiring that, after his passing on September 2, 2024, a movement was born in his honor: #LiveLikeLiam. To live like Liam is to embrace every day with hope, lift others with kindness, and leave the world a little brighter—just as he did.
