Event Description:
Guidelines for scoring and ranking will be based on the NSDA Rules for Impromptu Speaking, with the following changes to support asynchronous format:
1) Students will select one prompt from the official list, prepare a speech, and record it.
2) Only the speech should be filmed and submitted. There is no need to record prep time.
3) The maximum time limit is 5 minutes with a 30-second “grace period.” Should a student go beyond the grace period, the student may not be ranked 1st. There is no other prescribed penalty for going over the grace period. The ranking is up to each individual judge’s discretion.
4) No minimum time is mandated.
