Middle School March Madness
2024 — Online, NJ/US
Welcome to the Middle School March Madness Asynchronous Tournament!
This asynchronous tournament is organized by the middle school teams of the New Jersey Speech & Debate League (NJSDL), but is open to middle school students from across the country and around the world.
SCHEDULE To accommodate various Spring Break schedules, we will accept entries and videos throughout the March Madness Tournament (March 19 to April 8). Asynchronous prelims judging will take place Tuesday, April 9 to Friday, April 12. If elimination rounds are needed in any events they will take place Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14.
EVENT RULES We will be following National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) Middle School rules for all events EXCEPT in Congressional Debate Asynchronous Challenge students should submit one speech no more than 3-minutes (with a 30 second grace period) and it can be an affirmative or negative speech on one piece of legislation from either theNSDA March Legislation Docket or the NOF March Legislation Docket.
Also, please note that while we will follow NSDA Middle School rules, we will prioritize getting judge feedback for middle school students and as such if a video doesn't conform to NSDA rules due to regional differences or a misunderstanding, we will give grace rather than disqualify.
