Event Description:
Competitors are to convey ideas, experiences, and emotions through language and expression. They are encouraged to be very creative in terms of vocabulary and composition. While Poetry may tell a story or develop a character, more often Poetry’s focus on language and form are designed to elicit critical thought, reflection, or emotion. A competitor's selection may consist of one or multiple pieces of poetry, and the total time of the selection should not exceed 7 minutes.
