Event Description:

TIK TOK – All rounds will be asynchronous.

SPECIAL EVENT RULES: This year has been trying to say the least, so let’s have some fun. Students who compete in this event must create and upload 5 TikTok videos that align with each specified category and upload them to the designated location no later than Friday, November 5th at 6:00 p.m.

Competitors will be allowed to use all of the tools TikTok offers, but they must keep in mind that this is a speaking event (not a lip-sync event) and will be judged by anyone in the IE Pool, so a goal should be to appeal to a wide variety of people. TIME LIMIT: Competitors should choose the 60 second format on TikTok. All content submitted in these videos should be appropriate for the high school audiences. Categories are as follows:

1. Commentary – The competitor will present an opinion or point of view on an issue, situation, or event. The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.

2. Educational – The competitor will educate through instruction or demonstration of anything of their choosing. The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.

3. Comedy – The competitor will present a comedy routine. (Think stand-up comedy or satire.) The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.

4. Spoken Word – The competitor will present a single, poem. The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.

5. Duet – The competitor will respond to one of the scenarios provided in the invitation. The video created must show both videos side by side. The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.
