Event Description:

TIK TOK – All rounds will be asynchronous.

SPECIAL EVENT RULES: This year has been trying to say the least, so let’s have some fun. Students who compete in this event must create and upload 5 TikTok videos that align with each specified category and upload them to the designated location no later than Friday, November 6th at 6:00 p.m.

Competitors will be allowed to use all of the tools TikTok offers, but they must keep in mind that this is a speaking event (not a lip-sync event) and will be judged by anyone in the IE Pool, so a goal should be to appeal to a wide variety of people. TIME LIMIT: Competitors should choose the 60 second format on TikTok. All content submitted in these videos should be appropriate for the high school audiences. Categories are as follows:

1. Commentary – The competitor will present an opinion or point of view on an issue, situation, or event. The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.

2. Educational – The competitor will educate through instruction or demonstration of anything of their choosing. The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.

3. Comedy – The competitor will present a comedy routine. (Think stand-up comedy or satire.) The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.

4. Spoken Word – The competitor will present a single, poem. The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.

5. Duet – The competitor will respond to one of three videos provided. The video created must show both videos side by side. The content must be written by the contestant delivering it.
