MS Extemporaneous Speaking

Event Description:

Middle School Extemporaneous Speaking General Judging Instructions:

- The extemporaneous speech is an original synthesis of current fact and opinion on a designated topic, usually presented with numerous sources. Preparation of the speech occurs half an hour before the round in an extemp prep room.

- The speaker may use gestures. Movement is not restricted.

- Seven minute time limit. 30 second grace period. Overtime penalty at judge’s discretion.

- Notecards are permitted but should be taken into consideration when deciding final rankings.
