Event Description:
Novice Reading: an excerpt from a novel, selection of poetry or scene from a play delivered by a single performer from manuscript using no props or costumes. Students should strive to bring the literature to life for the audience, involving them vicariously in the work. Students are required to provide brief introductory remarks that, at the least, identify the title and author of the work. This event is open only to students in their first year of forensic competition—after placing in elimination rounds twice in this event, students move out of novice reading. Students entered in Novice Reading may not double enter.
