I debated policy at China Spring High School (Waco, TX) for 4 years within multiple brackets; UIL, TFA, etc., and dappled in events like Congress, LD, and Ronald Reagan. I now attend Texas A&M as a Society, Ethics, and Law major though I no longer participate in debate itself.
Style/Speed: I am fine with spreading but make sure to have exaggerated diction and slow down the tag lines
T: I enjoy a good T debate if done well. Do not run it as a time suck and make me believe there is in round abuse. If the debate is made I can and will vote on T.
Theory: Not much of an opinion on theory debate. Make it neat and don't let it get jumbled.
DA: I go for about anything on DA, just please include an impact calc.
CP: I personally am not a fan of CP's but that does not mean I won't vote on it. If you run perms make sure to explain how the world looks within them, do not make me try to envision the world of the perm by myself.
K: I have some knowledge of K's but have never found myself being a K debater when it came down to it. If you want to run it, do it in a way that is well walked through and explained. I do not know too much K literature so if you fail to cleanly and efficiently explain it I can almost guarantee that it will not end up being the deciding factor in the round.
K Aff's: Make sure to extend the framework debate throughout the whole round. Other than that I don't have much to add regarding k-affs.
Case: Please, please read case. It is a missed opportunity if you don't.
Other Comments:
Do not steal prep doing little actions like flashing evidence, if it starts becoming an issue I will resume your prep time on my own.
TIME YOURSELF, it is harmful to yourself not to keep your own time. A phone is an acceptable timer if needed.
Please stay respectful, I will not tolerate rude and offensive remarks from anyone in the room.
Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have!
