CX: I am a "lay judge" (not really but I will score like one), so please speak normally and clearly and keep esoteric jargon to a minimum.

Please be kind and respectful to your opponent(s) during CX. Treat each other with kindness overall. I would also like to say I do not like Spreading. It makes it hard for me as the judge to follow along with you and give you critiques. I am a stock issue and policy judge, but I will judge all rounds with the same criteria. Overall just convince me why the aff or neg should win the ballot in a respectful and educational way. The debate round should be educational, we should all walk out learning something new. I would like to see a debate round with respectful discussion and manners.

My paradigm is pretty traditional. Whether it's a debate or a speech, you must follow the format for that particular category. For example, LD Debate must follow the value/criterion/contention format. If you substitute a policy debater for a round, make sure they are at least familiar with the basics of LD! If they don't have a value/criterion, I will automatically give the round to the opponent.
If you start spreading to where I cannot understand you, I will automatically give the round to the opponent. Simply put, if I cannot understand what you are saying, I cannot judge it.

LD- Value/Criterion block is key to me in this form of debate. However, use your contentions to detail how and why that is so. Remember, philosophy plays a big role in this. Flush out exactly why yours should be upheld more than your opponents. Speed is fine, as long as it's understandable.
Contentions are the building blocks for your value and criterion. Give well presented warrants and explain how it connects.
Analytics are fine, but back it up with well given reasoning.
Congress- Be involved! Ask good questions, understand your arguments as well as the opposing arguments, but most of all; keep the round moving.
