Debate

I am persuaded by calm, well-thought-out arguments, that flow well within your framework. An over-bearing and/or arrogant demeanor will negatively impact my vote. A good debate is about an exchange between sides. This requires listening, as a good debate is as much about responding to your opponent as it is about solidifying your own arguments.

Speech

I rely heavily on delivery. I look for confidence in the speaker. I am best persuaded by a speaker when they are passionate and engaging. Most of all, however, is I need to see the speaker connected to the speech on some level, whether this be emotional, through body language, and/or through some other means.
