I tend to work tab at most tournaments. Don't waste your strike on me. :)

Hello,
I am a parent judge with previous experience in other events; however, I'm fairly new in judging LD.
Keeping my LD experience in mind, my preferences are as follows:
1. Explain arguments to the best of your ability. As a parent judge, I most likely do not know the topic as well as LD debaters. Thus, I ask that you clearly identify the impact of each argument thoughtfully.
2. Please do not spread. I value clarity and proper pronunciation that will allow me to better understand the argument. If you happen to naturally speak fast, that is fine as long as you abide by the expectation of clarity. However, if you are making an essential point in your case, please slow down so that I can have the opportunity to fully grasp that key point.
3. Always provide specific details and piece of evidence. Conciseness is important for me when having to decide the round.
Most importantly, be respectful and have fun while debating!

Hi all, my name is Laxmikant Iyer and I am judging for Shrewsbury High School. I am a parent judge who has judged on both the local and national level for about 3 years now. Overall I have judged all forensic activities for about 6 years.
Judging Preferences
Organization: Please organize your contention and frameworks throughout all speeches so I can clearly follow your arguments. If I can’t understand where the arguments fits in the round I probably won’t vote for you.
Speed of Delivery: Please go slow. I understand that kids in PF like speaking as fast as possible but if I cannot understand you I won’t be able to make a good decision by the end.
Late Round Speeches: I prefer a big picture analysis at the end of the round. Don’t just give me evidence names and authors, give me the logical reasoning behind the argument the author is making and the implication it has for the round as a whole. Most importantly I want to hear reasons to prefer your arguments over your opponents. However, don’t yell buzzwords like “scope” or “magnitude”, I don’t know what that means nor do I care. If you don’t give me this analysis AT LATEST by the final focus, I will have to give you the loss. Please include all arguments you want me to evaluate in the summary speech and the final focus
Higher Level Technical Skills: Public Forum is made for the public so please, I beg you, no crazy debate lingo or strategies. I don’t know what theory, kritiks or plans are and won’t evaluate them.
Flowing/note-taking: I am not great at flowing. By the PF community standards, I am most definitely a note taker and will not have an extensive flow with author names. That’s why I insist on debaters going slow and explaining reasoning behind the arguments being made.

Mr. Poe is a high school Spanish teacher who has judged at basically every local Massachusetts tournament ever.
- Does he flow (most crucial question): sometimes
-
Sitting versus standing in cross: he wanted me to include that he “has no preference”
-
Extending defense in first summary: not needed in either summary (as long as it’s been said before he says it’s “fair game”) (he also doesn’t know what this term means)
-
Going new in the two: just because he might not catch it doesn’t mean you should do it
-
Kicking out of turns: he probably finds it unpersuasive
-
Frontlining in second rebuttal y/n: he doesn’t care (asked about it, and he also doesn’t know what the word “frontline” means)
-
Weighing: the sooner the better (you can start in rebuttal)
-
Speed: he says “medium speed” but I think that means lay judge level
-
Extensions: you need to extend card context not just the author and implicate it in the context of the round
-
Types of argument: tech > truth
-
Progressive args: obviously not
-
Speaker points: historical precedent - he will drop you with 25s regardless of your argumentation if you are a) rude and/or b) yelling
-
Humor: good (direct quote: “so long as it adds something to the round”)
-
Disclosure after the round: no guaruntees

Flow Judge - If it is not on my flow it does not exist in the round.
Speed is fine. Enjoy technically proficient debaters. Poor time allocation is a pet peeve of mine.
Will doc speakers for uncivil/ungracious opponents.
