WHY NSDA TOURNAMENTS MATTER?
NSDA is the oldest, the biggest, the most recognized in the world, thus most beneficial for your future college and beyond!
NSDA alumni exude prominent influence in the U.S. and beyond.

U.S. Academia considers NSDA awards favorably because NSDA is considered the most prestigious and official speech and debate association in the U.S. and abroad. For example, according to Yale Professor Luong and the Wall Street Journal (Interactive Edition, April 16, 1999), U.S. top-tier U.S. colleges admits 22 – 30 % more debaters, as opposed to students in other extra-curricular activities “school newspaper reporter (+3%), sports team captain (+5%), class president (+5), and band (+3).”
NSDA was founded in 1925, and its national tournaments are the world’s largest. As of 2017, it has 30,000 regional qualifying participants and nearly 8,000 national tournament attendees. To date, it has enrolled over 1.4 million members in all 50 states, U.S. possessions, and several foreign countries. Currently, NSDA serves more than 150,000 students and 6,500 coaches.
NSDA alumniexude prominent influence in the U.S., and to name just a few are Presidents John F. Kennedy, Hillary & Bill Clintons; Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Stephen Breyer, and Samuel Alito; Senators Richard Lugar, Russ Feingold, and William Frist; Amazon founder Jeff Bezos; CNN founder Ted Turner; media visionaries Oprah Winfrey, Brett Pitt, and Michael Moore.
