Sweepstakes Info

We are proud to present the Glenda Ferguson Grand Sweepstakes Trophy, along with separate school sweepstakes awards recognizing excellence in Debate and Competitive Speaking (Individual Events and Congressional Debate).

All entries contribute to their school's sweepstakes totals according to the following scoring system.

Debate Sweepstakes

CX, LD, PF, and WSD

Competitive Speaking Sweepstakes

Individual Events and Congressional Debate

Glenda Ferguson Grand Sweepstakes

The tournament's highest school honor recognizes outstanding achievement across both Debate and Competitive Speaking.

The Grand Sweepstakes total combines each school's scores from the two categories, with Debate Sweepstakes points weighted by a factor of 2.5 to account for the difference in the number of events offered.

Grand Total = (Debate Points × 2.5) + Competitive Speaking Points

All eligible entries count toward their school's totals. The school earning the highest combined weighted score will receive the Glenda Ferguson Grand Sweepstakes Trophy.
