Invitation

Dear Colleagues:

We are excited to invite you and your students to Northview High School's campus on Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th to compete in the Titan Tussle. We wanted to provide a venue for policy debates to occur in late September so that new students and returning students alike can have an opportunity to develop their topic knowledge and gain experience at tournaments early in the season. We are also unable to host policy debates at our traditional weekend with The Clash of the Titans due to some conflicting schedules with hosting, so we are going to focus on providing an opportunity for policy debaters to compete at Northview this weekend. Since this tournament overlaps with Fulton County’s fall break, we are only able to host debates in the policy division this weekend.

Some coaches in PF and LD have expressed interest in an online division for their events. I will open up registration for those events and if there is enough interest in those events, we will do what we can to accommodate to provide folks with an opportunity to compete that weekend. In keeping with other tournaments on the circuit, the online option will be Saturday only. We are just limited in building space and in-person volunteers as a result of hosting over our fall break. If you could please reach out to cekanorm@fultonschools.org by Friday, September 18th if your school is interested in attending an online LD/PF division that weekend (even if you don't have a complete sense of numbers of names), that will help me gauge interest.

There will be five preliminary rounds of policy debate and at least one round of elimination debates. PF and LD will have four preliminary rounds and, if we are able to maintain the schedule, an elimination debate. All students will debate preliminary rounds and, in events with elims, then proceed to break rounds depending on their records and the number of entries within each division.

We are working diligently to ensure that your experience at Northview High School is a high quality and enjoyable tournament experience. We know how much time you and your students put into this activity and we want to create an opportunity for your students to show off all that they have learned early in this first semester of the season!
