Welcome & Invitation

Coaches and Students,

You are cordially invited to attend The Brawl at the Mall, a Speech and Debate Tournament hosted at LAMP High School on Friday and Saturday, 02 & 03 October 2026.

Our tournament serves as a TOC bid qualifier for both Congressional Debate and ALL the speech events for their 2027 tournament hosted at the University of Kentucky on April 17-19, provided the numbers support said bid. We are also serving as a NIETOC bid qualifer for ALL speech events for their 2027 tournament hosted in Aurora, CO, on May 14-16.

To ensure a high-quality competitive experience, schools are expected to provide their full judge obligation with qualified judges. The strength of our judging pool is essential to the success and integrity of the tournament, and schools that fulfill their complete obligation help us provide fair, timely, and well-adjudicated competition for all participants. While we will make every effort to accommodate attending schools, entry acceptance may be influenced by a school's ability to meet its qualified judge obligation.

We have a tentative schedule posted. While some particulars may change, we are committed to keeping BQ, LD, and PF Debate Prelims on Friday, while having all of Speech, Congress, and BQ/LD/PF Elims on Saturday.

A few particulars about student limitations if you'll look at the schedule. The setup means

1. A student may only do 1 event on Friday and 2 events on Saturday.
2. A student who advances to Semis of their Friday Debate event may NOT do Speech on Saturday.
3. A student who wishes to do 2 events on Saturday may do 2 Speech events OR Congress + 1 Speech event.
4. The one exception to that last rule is a student doing Extemporaneous Speaking CANNOT do Congress due to time constraints.

Students doing Congress + Another Event should be mindful of how tight their Saturday schedule will be. (Having water and snacks could be particularly clutch for those students.)
