The Meadows Invitational

2020 — NSDA Campus, NV/US

New for 2020

Things are different this year:

Our tournament will be On-Line this year. Entry will be through the Tabroom.com site. We will be using the NSDA Campus Platform to host the tournament. There is no entry deadline – we will accept entrants until we are full. Registration will open on Monday, August 24th at 12:00 Noon, PST. Fees will be frozen on Mon Oct 19th; entries that drop after that time will still be obligated to pay entry fees.

Hired judge requests will be Extremely Limited this year. Any requests must be sent by Email to timalderete@yahoo.com by Sept 18th, and must be paid in advance. Please endeavor to provide your own judging rather than hire.

We will be holding three divisions – Open, JV, and Novice – in both LD and Policy. In an effort to host with an acceptable schedule that crosses all of the time zones, and to limit the number of 4-2 entries not clearing, we will be limiting Each Division to 60 Entries. Please utilize all divisions - if you have more than Three entries in a division, the rest will be placed on a Waiting List.

Both varsity divisions will consist of six preliminary debates. Power matching in Policy will be based on Wins, High Low Points + Opponents Wins, Total Points and Judge Variance. Rounds Three through Six will be matched High Low within brackets. (These are subject to change due to technology consultation). Up to 16 teams/debaters in varsity with winning records will advance to elimination rounds.

Novice and JV divisions in LD will have six preliminary debates, and then will be awarded Final Places and Speaker Awards based on preliminary seeding. Novice and JV in Policy is TBD – it will be concluded on Sunday.

Virtual School Bus Registration – Every school is responsible for meeting in a virtual “School Bus” at 8:00 AM to make sure that all of your participants are present. You may do this in a Zoom meeting, in a Squad Room through Campus, or a Discord or Slack. By 8:30 AM, the coach or chaperone must contact the tab room to verify that everyone is present. This is NOT the same thing as the Online Confirmation the night before. The purpose of this is to make sure all of the students are awake.
