GFCA Varsity State Championship

2015 — GA/US

Entry/Qualifier Process

ENTRIES & APPLICATION PROCESS

Only those students qualified through the GFCA qualification system may attend this tournament.
Debate Qualifiers: https://gfcastate.appspot.com/
Speech Qualifiers: http://www.gaspeechanddebate.org/varsity-speech-state-qualifiers/

All schools attending must be members of the GFCA.  To become a member, please email Richard Bracknell.

The entry process is the same as it was last season.  The application process is required for all entries to increase efficiency and accuracy for the tournament.  Please follow the following procedures.

Step 1:
Enter students online, including the two in-state invitational they participated in (from September 1 to February 8), which will automatically place them on the waitlist.

Step 2:
Once a GFCA Executive Member has verified the entry, they will be released off the waitlist and the coach will be notified.

AT LARGE APPLICATION PROCESS

For those students who did not qualify through the regular season invitational method, the GFCA adopted an at large system in the Fall of 2012.   All rules can be found in the bylaws (Section 3.20).

To apply for an at-large, you simply register your students as if they were qualified but instead of typing where they earned their bid - you would select the "At Large" Button.

This year’s At Large Selection Committee is made up of the following individuals: Lauren Donnenfeld of Alpharetta High School, Garrett Abelkop of Chattahoochee High School, Jordana Sternberg of Westminster Schools, Elizabeth Hahn of Evans High School, and Pam Childress of Valdosta High School.

MEMBER SCHOOL ENTRY (Formerly known as the At Large Bid)

Each GFCA member school is given an automatic entry to the State Championship.  All rules can be found in By Law 4.21g.

Member schools may either:
(1) use Member School Entry as long as it is the sole entry for that school in that event at the State Tournament
(2) use Member School Entry to create an even number of qualifiers in team events

Schools must fill out the member school entry form here by February 26,  2015 The GFCA President or Secretary will notify you upon receipt of form.

HARDSHIP REQUESTS
All hardship requests for two-person divisions must be handled by February 26, 2015.  For more information, please contact Jeffrey Miller at jmill126@gmail.com.
