Structure

Competition will consist of two parts within a single round: 
1. A prepared speech of 8-10 minutes on a topic of the students' choosing "on some aspect of the Constitution, with emphasis on a citizen’s duties and obligations to our government." Students will perform this speech to judges without notes.
2. A speech on an "Assigned Topic" drawn from the list of posted topics five minutes prior to the round and resulting in a 3-5 minute speech--prepared without reference to materials other than the text of the topic.

Both speeches will be presented in front of the same panel of judges, who will determine the overall winner of the round.
