Expected Speech Breakpoints

Speech:

The following events shall break to a Quarterfinal Round: Impromptu Open and Impromptu Novice.

The following events shall break to a Semifinal Round: Declamation Open, Declamation Novice, Humorous Interp Novice, Extemp Open*, Original Oratory Open*, Original Oratory Novice, and Informative Open.

An asterisk (*) denotes that the event will break to a three section Semifinal between 15 and 21 entries (3 sections of 5, 6, or 7).

The following events shall break directly to a Final Round of 6 or 7 speakers: Programmed Oral Interp Open, Duo Open, Duo Novice, Dramatic Interp Open, Humorous Interp Open, Extemp Novice, and Informative Novice.

The following events will NOT have a Final Round and will be finished on Saturday: Original Prose and Poetry Open and Dramatic Interp Novice.

Congress:

Open Congress: 3 sections of 13 or 14 speakers; Top 4 or 5 will break to Finals

Novice Congress: 2 sections of 11 speakers; Top 5 or 6 will break to Finals

Collapsed Events:

Original Prose and Poetry Novice and Programmed Oral Interp Novice
