Extemp Debate

Extemporaneous Debate:

· This is a supplemental event offered at the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament. The Hurricane Tournament is likely the only chance you will have this year to compete before nationals.

· At the national tournament, resolutions are released 30 minutes before the round. Because of our schedule and because it is early in the year--especially for new debaters--we will have ONE round with 30 minutes prep and two others with the resolutions below.

Resolutions for the 2023 Hurricane Debate Tournament:

Round 1 resolution will be posted thirty minutes before the round begins.

Round 2: On balance, Artificial Intelligence is harmful to human discourse.

Round 3: Persons convicted of serious crimes should be prevented from running for public office.

Round 4 resolution will be posted thirty minutes before the round begins.
