Congress Schedule and Procedures
SATURDAY, March 25 -- In-person at James Logan HS
8:15 AM: competitors report to chambers. PO vote and draw for recency.
8:30 AM: 12:00 PM Congress Session 1
12:00 PM: 1:00 PM Lunch
1:00 PM: 4:30 PM Debate Congress Session 2
5:30 PM: Award
Judges: 3 judges in each chamber in the am session. 5 judges each chamber in pm session.
Presiding Officers: Each House chamber shall elect up to 3 presiding officers. Senate shall elect up to 2 presiding officers. POs will be allowed to give one speech on each piece of legislation being debated but not allowed to participate in cross-examination. Recency will reset in House after the break.
Legislation: Assign 3 pieces of legislation for morning and 3 for afternoon session. Allow chambers to set the docket.
Scoring: NSDA requires that qualifiers are determined by rank total from the final round only if we hold a final round. Therefore, the House qualifiers will be determined by ranks in final round only. Senate will not have a final round. Therefore, Senate qualifiers will be determined by the total of 3 judge scores in the am and 5 judge scores in the pm.
