April 28 Thursday Training Clinic-optional event and additional cost $30 per student/coaches are free

8 am -2:30 pm (lunch included in price)

3:00pm Welcome Assembly

3:30pm Impromptu Prep for teams and Judge/Coach training

4:30pm Round 1 Impromptu

5:30-6:30pm Dinner Break (food provided for all competitors, coaches and judges)

6:30-7:30pm Round 2 Prepared "This house believes that meritocracy does more harm than good."

8:00-9:00 pm Round 3 Prepared opposite side of "meritocracy" motion

 

April 29 Friday

3:00-4:00pm Round 4 Prepared "This house supports school choice."

5:30-6:30pm Round 5 Impromptu

BREAK PARTY!

Texas Culture Night!

Hamburgers/hot dogs provided for all competitors, coaches and judges

*line dancing, games, music, photos, Bluebonnet t-shirts for sale

STUDENTS bring a t-shirt from your school or debate program for the traditional t-shirt exchange!

April 30 Saturday

8:00 am Impromptu prep for Quarterfinals teams/Coach coffee chat and breakfast

9:00-10:00am Quarterfinals Impromptu

11:00-12:00 Impromptu Prep for Semifinalist

12:00-1:00 Semifinals Impromptu

LUNCH BREAK and flip for finals sides

Lunch provided for all that stay to watch the Grand Finals

2:30-3:30 GRAND FINALS "This house supports school choice."

Grand Oaks High School Auditorium on the stage! We hope to have everyone stay and watch and all awards will be presented after the finals! This is a great time, we would love to have your parents/teammates/community members/school administrators attend and see and better understand this amazing debate form and appreciate your hard work!

 

 

*school choice is a term for precollege public education options that describes an array of programs offering students and their families voluntary alternatives to publicly provided schools, to which students are generally assigned by the location of their family residence.
