Magnolia District Tournament
2021 — MS/US
Magnolia District Qualifier
for the 2021 National Tournament
Registration: Entry Limits & Student Eligibility
Student Eligibility
In order to compete at any District qualifier, students must have already earned the degree of Merit (25 NSDA points). Those points must be posted through the coach’s NSDA (speechanddebate.org) account at least 7 days prior to tournament registration.
Students must have also created an account on speechanddebate.org and linked to their school, and student membership fees ($20) must have been paid. (Coaches, not students, handle this through the school account.)
Finally, students must also have a tabroom.com account which is correctly linked to their speechanddebate.org account.
For problems regarding any of the above, please contact Micah Everson and he'll walk you through it.
Student Entry Limits
Students are limited to entry in two events over the course of the district tournament, except that:
1) House or Senate does not count towards the two event limit.
2) Big Questions does not count towards the two event limit.
Also, no student may enter:
1) in both House and Senate
2) in both US Extemp and International Extemp
3) in more than one of Lincoln-Douglas, Policy, or Public Forum
Realistically, this means that students may enter two Speech events (except IX and USX) or one Speech and one Debate (CX/PF/LD), and may also enter Congress and Big Questions.
Partner events
A student may enter Duo Interpretation with one partner and later enter Public Forum or Policy with another partner only if they give up their spot in the qualifier/alternate list for Duo Interp.
A student may enter Duo and debate with the same partner without giving up their spot in the qualifier/alternate list.
Partner events are automatically preferred over individual events in double-entry preferences for qualifiers. See page 68 of the Unified Manual.
School Entry Limits
In all events (except Congress), schools are limited to 4 entries per event.
In the Senate, schools are limited to 2 entries.
In the House, a school's entry limit is calculated by team strength.
In all events (excluding Congress and Big Questions) the overall entry limit for schools is calculated by team strength.
You can find your team strength listed under the School Profile on your speechanddebate.org account. Page 66 in the Unified Manual shows the entry limits based team strength.
