Board and Moderator Elections

DIOCESAN CFL BOARD ELECTIONS

2021

Please note:

According to Article 4, Section 2 of our local constitution, we are instructed to hold elections for members of the Executive Board every two years.

Article 4 Section 2.  Executive Board

An executive board will be elected by ballot in the spring at the diocesan qualifying tournament.  Each member school shall have one vote and a simple majority is needed to win.  There shall be four members, and each member shall have a term of four years.  (For the first election, two members will be elected for terms of two years, and two members elected for four years.  After that, elections will be held every two years, so that membership on the board is staggered.)  The purpose of the board is to assist the moderator in decisions concerning general League business, implementation of the Constitution and its by-laws and other necessary League functions.

The current members of the board and their time remaining are:

Moderator:                             Beth Young (3 years – EXPIRES 2021)

PLEASE SEE THE MODERATOR ELECTION DOCUMENT BELOW!)

Board:                                    Jess Cerchiaro (2 years - EXPIRES 2023)

                                              Lauren Hess (2 years - EXPIRES 2023)

Board members whose terms currently expiring are:

                                                Alison McBee

                                                Ben Edwards

CFL DIOCESAN MODERATOR ELECTIONS

2021

Please note:

According to Article 4, Section 1 of our local constitution, we are instructed to hold elections for a diocesan moderator every 3 years.

ARTICLE 4 - OFFICERS

Section 1.  Moderator

The league moderator shall serve for a term of three years. In keeping with the tradition for which the League is named, the moderator should be the director of forensics from one the Catholic schools that is a member of the League.  The moderator will be elected by a majority of votes from member schools during the general spring meeting, (conducted as part of the diocesan tournament).  Each member school shall have one vote and a simple majority is needed to win.  The moderator will be responsible for the general operation of the League, finances, communication within the League, enforcement of all provisions of the Constitution and its by-laws and shall make necessary arrangements for the League's participation in the NCFL Grand Tournament.

The last election for this position was held in March 2018 with the following individual being elected to serve:

Diocesan Moderator:           Beth Young (3 years)

Current Members of the Board:

Ben Edwards (term expires 2021)

Alison McBee (term expires 2021)

Jess Cerchiaro (term expires 2023)

Lauren Hess (term expires 2023)

Thus, in 2021, we will be holding elections for the position of diocesan moderator with a term of three years. We will also be holding elections for two positions on the executive board, each with a term of four years. School moderators are asked to submit their nominations to Lauren Hess or Jess Cerchiaro (see note below). Any league coach is eligible to serve on the board. The actual election will take place later in the day at the diocesan qualifying tournament in March.

(Please note: since we are conducting this election at an online tournament, you should email your nominations to Lauren Hess at hessl@slshs.org or to Jess Cerchiaro at jesscheerios@gmail.com

On the day of the tournament Jess and Lauren will be contacting you with a ballot that will need to be submitted back to them following the deadline that they request.)
