Judging Requirements

Speech                         1 judge for every 4 competitors (or partners)

Debate                         PF,LD & Parli 1 judge for every 2 individuals or teams

CX                               1 judge for every 2

Congress                     All congress judges will combined in the speech poll

 

 

PLEASE NOTE: All judges will be used to judge District 1, 2, and 16, so we need to make sure we’re meeting our quotas

 

COACHES:

When Registering Judges in Tabroom. Please indicate in Qualification History what events the judge can judge. Also, check phssl.org for rule changes and updates. It is your responsibility to be current on the rules. Please ask Ben or Rita if you have any questions.

A Note on the PHSSL Bid System: You should communicate with Ben if you think you have auto-qualifiers. No one who auto-qualifies can enter any event at Quals or they forfeit their auto-qualification.

-If you have sent in a Senate Bill please send it  Rita Yunker. Senate Legislation Due by February 12th at 5:00. yunkerr@bishopcanevin.org

 

 -Check September Communicator at phssl.org for rule changes/updates

 

 -A team can enter 2 in each category unless they have 3 or four qualifiers . The school winning qualifiers in Debate in the prior year has the initial right to send a swing team. If that spot is not filled by that team for whatever reason, the responsibility falls to the 2nd place team and so on.

 

-Oratories (Persuasive and Informative must be submitted to Rita Yunker by the day of the tournament at yunkerr@bishopcanevin.org. It is recommended that coaches sign the front page and scan them in a PDF to Rita. You will need to do the same for States

 

-No Categories will be combined.  The number of qualifiers to States is based on the number of students competing.

 

-Auto-qualifiers with 3+ State Bids need to be submitted to Ben Edwards before the registration deadline

 

-We will have awards for State Qualifiers and alternates

 

- There will be a fee to cover NSDA Campus Rooms

 

-At the end of the Round Judges are to report back to the Judges’ Lounge and Competitors are to report to the Cafeteria.

 

-All ballots will be electronic and NSDA Campus will be used

 

-We will utilize the Zoom Judge’s Lounge we’ve been using throughout the season for questions and hangouts. You can access this from Tabroom.com
