Alta Silver and Black

2015 — UT/US

Welcome Letter and Internet Access

Welcome to this year’s annual Silver and Black Invitational! My name is Tanya Roundy and I am the new coach at Alta, though I have coached for 7 years now as well as having competed in High School. We hope to give you the best experience possible, but that also requires your assistance.

o   Make sure you are on Tabroom and checking for your rounds and being early waiting for your rounds so we can run as close to on time as possible.

o   Be respectful and Courteous to others: Showing respect for other teams and these host schools shows the respect you have for yourself and your teams/schools you represent.

o   Do not Enter a room without an adult Judge present.

o   While in the rooms, do not move desks or touch anything in the rooms except what is necessary to run the round.

o   No food or drink allowed in debate rooms except for water by students. (Judges may eat in the rooms to keep tournament on time, please clean up after yourselves.)

o   Please pick up any paper, trash and put any desks back into place if you move them to do  your debate.

o   Please walk respectfully in Hallways, and for those competing at Altara in Public Forum, it is UTAH, and WINTER---be prepared with appropriate coats, and walk carefully between the sites…we are not liable or responsible for your actions that may cause injury when going between the two schools. Use the crosswalks, and appropriate safety measures.

o   When not in rounds, please assemble in the commons area at ALTA, and Gym at ALTARA, so that those in rounds can have the quiet they need in the hallways surrounding the rooms.

o   Please pick up after yourselves in the commons area, throw away trash and keep things as tidy as possible for our volunteers and custodial staff.

o   Food trucks will be available for Students to purchase food at ALTA, as well as our concession stand in the commons area at Alta, and a concession stand in the gym at Altara. These will include, candy bars, fruit, juices, hot chocolate and refillable water bottles so that we are more environmentally friendly.

o   Our Hawk Café in room 2101 will be our judges lounge and Food for judges and Coaches.

o   The Media Center/Library will be a place where coaches can relax and enjoy themselves throughout the tournament. No STUDENTS in either location please. If your students need to talk to you, they can speak to you in the hallway or commons areas.

Again, we are thankful for your attendance and hope that you will have a great time and enjoy this experience with your schools.
