East Iowa District Tournament
2021 — IA/US
East Iowa District Qualifier
for the 2021 National Tournament
IE/Debate Event List
All events will be held online on NSDA Campus and will be held synchronously. Duo will be held asynchronously with a split screen recording. If you need help on how to do that, watch this video: https://www.speechanddebate.org/duo-interp-split-screen-demo-nats-2020/
The District IE/Debate tournament on Feb. 12th – 13th will host the following events:
Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking
International Extemporaneous Speaking
Program Oral Interpretation
Public Forum Debate
NOTE: You can double-enter in any 2 events listed above. (Exception: Only 1 Debate event per student and you cannot double enter in both Extemp events.) Students can even enter 3 events, if one of those events is the District Congress event - hosted later this year. All students who are entered in multiple events must complete a Single Entry Intent form though - the form is linked on the "Requirements" tab. Thanks!
(Student Congress will be hosted on a separate District tournament date.)
Each event will use all specific “Event Rules,” as listed in the District Tournament Operations Manual. For a full listing of event guidelines, you can read the manual via the link on the right side. Please see pages 23 – 53 for full details. There have been some changes in some rules in events, so you may want to ensure that you have read through the rules in every event, which includes source material for interpretation events, and allowing internet use in debate events and extemporaneous speaking.
