Flower Mound NIETOC Scholarship Swing

2021 — Classrooms.Cloud, TX/US

Scholarship Information!

2021 will mark the seventh year we have committed 10% of our entry fees to fund scholarships to top performers at the Swing.  In the first seven years, we have given over $25,000 in scholarships to well-deserving competitors!  This year, we are foregoing traditional trophies and adding the money we would spend on trophies to the scholarship total so that even more students can enjoy this part of the Flower Mound Swing!

Scholarships will be awarded as follows*:

CX Debate:  The top speaker of the champion Varsity CX team will receive a $250.00 scholarship!^

LD Debate:  The student with the most cumulative sweepstakes points at the Swing will receive a $250.00 scholarship!

PF Debate:  The top speaker of the PF team with the most cumulative sweepstakes points at the swing will receive a $250.00 scholarship!^

Congress:  The Representative with the most cumulative sweepstakes points at the Swing will receive a $250.00 scholarship!

Extemp:  The speaker with the most cumulative sweepstakes points at the Swing will receive a $250.00 scholarship!

Individual Events:  The competitor with the most cumulative sweepstakes points at the Swing will receive a $500.00 scholarship!

If there are any remaining funds in the scholarship pool, a drawing will be held with each recipient winning a $100.00 scholarship!  Competitors will be entered into the drawing by placing in the top 8 in any event offered at the tournament.  Students who advance to the top 8 in multiple events will be in the drawing multiple times, but may only be drawn once.  Members of teams (CX, PF, WSD, DA, DU) will be drawn as individuals for these scholarships.  Competitors in WSD and Novice Debate Events are included in the drawing!

For Texas schools, UIL has given official approval that this program does not violate any eligibility rules for academic competition.  Schools from other states may want to check with their state interscholastic organization before a student accepts a scholarship.
