Dear Speech Coaches:         

You and your team are invited to the annual Dr. Littlefield Shanley High School Speech Tournament on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 8-4.  Another speech season is upon us.  We look forward to serving you and your team at this annual event.  The awards look cool this year, so bring everyone. 

REGISTRATION:                        Registration is due by noon on February 4. 

* Complete your registration online or complete the attached excel spreadsheet.  If you are going to attend, Register at http://littlefieldshanleyspeech.tabroom.com OR EMAIL THE ATTACHED EXCEL SPREADSHEET TO GAYLE HYDE AT hydeg@fargo.k12.nd.us. Gayle is helping with registration and scheduling of the event.

*$6 per entry for individual events; $12 for duos. 

*Students may enter up to six events, although a maximum of four is recommended as we will NOT schedule around students with multiple entries. Finger Furniture by Brian is pleased to offer the all-around award again this year.  A hand-made pen will go to the top all-around best speaker.   

*Drops, adds, and substitutions can be made on Tabroom until 8 AM Tuesday on February 6. After 8 AM on the 6th, schools will be expected to honor their commitments for fees and judges..  

SCHEDULE & COMPETITION:       

*Registration will open at 7:15 am.  Please do not arrive before 7:15 pm (unless you have chocolate)

*Judges/coaches and student meetings will be held at 8:00.

*Draw for Radio and Storytelling will begin 8:00 pm. Round One starts at 8:30 pm.

*All NDHSAA events will be offered.

*Standard time limits and rules will be followed per the NDHSAA speech rulebook.

*We hope to offer all events as state qualifying. 

*For larger events, we also hope to offer honor finals for top speakers who do not break.

*If we have the novice numbers, we will also offer a novice extemp final.  So mark your novice speakers with ***

***Make sure you have both burden of proof and language forms for all speakers.

JUDGES:       

*Teams need to provide one judge for every 6 entries.

*Judges will be scheduled to judge a variety of events.

*MAKE SURE YOUR JUDGES ARE CERTIFIED. If you bring a judge who is ineligible, your team will be charged for a judge. Please visit http://www.ndhsaa.com/officials/speech for steps to certify your judges.

            *A limited number of judges are available for hire at a rate of $75.00/judge.

You can indicate judge preference/ability (all events, interp only, oratory only) when you register. 

We will try to honor judging preferences.

 CONCESSIONS:

            *Our parent boosters have planned a great menu so plan to eat at Shanley on Saturday noon.  

            *Breakfast and lunch will be provided in the judge’s lounge for coaches and hired judges.

TAB ROOM:

*We will be contacting individuals to help in the tab room for the tournament.

*Anyone assisting with tabulation will count as a complete judge slot for their school.
