2018 MSM Forensics Festival

High School and Junior High Divisions

Mount St. Mary Academy’s Forensics Team invites you to the inaugural MSM High School and Junior High Forensics Festival February 3rd, 2018.  We will offer a Saturday ONLY forensics tournament; no debate events.  This is a qualifying tournament for the ACTAA State Tournament of Champions.  Registration will open on tabroom.com Monday, January, 8th.

All IEs will have one round.  Semis and Finals will be determined depending on the number of entries for each event.  We will offer sweepstakes awards to the divisions of large, small and junior high schools. Note that the entry form asks for your AAA designation.  We will  have certificates and trophies for top 6 finalists in IE’s for High School and Junior High competitors.  

We are offering two thespian events in the high school tournament: Solo Musical and Duet Musical.  Students will be responsible for their own accompaniment.  They are welcome to perform a cappella, with live accompaniment, or with recorded accompaniment (boombox, phone/iPod/Speaker).  These will not be qualifiers for ATOC, but we will be awarding the top six finalists.  

Group Events:  Words & Music and Reader’s Theatre

Pattern A:   DI, HI, Duo Interp, Oratory, Informative Speaking,

Solo Musical(no Junior H), and Duet Musical(no Junior H)   

Pattern B:   Prose, Poetry, Storytelling, Improv

There is no cap on number of entries; however, please make sure students understand NO ROUND WILL BE HELD TO ACCOMMODATE LATE STUDENTS. In order to promote fairness and efficiency please follow the judge commitment guideline of one judge per 20 IE entries and one judge for the group events. Judges will be offered hospitality. Concessions will be provided; please remind students to keep food in cafeteria.
