  • Registration must be complete online (including all info about Interp selections) NO LATER THAN 3/9/18 at 4PM.
  • All Congress and Speech/Debate entry forms including proper signatures are due to Michael Robinson ON PAPER NO LATER THAN 3/9/18 at 4PM. You may hand me these at the KHSSL State Speech/Debate Tournament or mail or fax them to me at Murray High School (270-753-8391).

Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you have about the upcoming District Tournament. Remember that your students must be members of the NSDA to register for the tournament, that all fees owed to the national office must be paid in full by registration, and that your entry quotas are determined by the size of your chapter on 3/10 (so, it’s to your advantage to keep your student/coach points up to date).

Be sure to check out the Kentucky District webpage at www.kynsda.org. There’s a great deal of history there that includes news from past tournaments, photos, videos, and a growing museum of Kentucky District accomplishments.

I am looking forward to seeing you all in Danville this coming March over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend for KYNSDA! Stay tuned for more updates!!! J

HARLEN HAMM AND SUSAN MOORE AWARDS

As we have done for many years, we will again give graduating NSDA seniors a Harlen Hamm Scholarship (speech and debate) and a Susan Moore Scholarship (Congress). These awards, named for Mr. Hamm and Ms. Moore, are cash prizes given to seniors nominated by their coaches in a letter that describes the senior’s speech activities (includin gawards and leadership positions), community and school activities/participation, and especially his or her service and participation in NFL at the district and national levels. Each coach may nominate one senior who is participating in speech events or debate events for the Hamm award, which will be chosen by a panel of three coaches without seniors in nomination. The same restrictions and process will be used for Congress students and the Moore award.  Each school participating in KYNSDA contributes $10 for each of these scholarships.

As most of you know, Mr. Hamm was a longtime Kentucky District Chair of NSDA as well as a great forensics coach at the high school and college levels. He is a the mentor of many people now teaching and coaching in our state and district, and it is an honor to give this award in his memory each year.

Ms. Moore was a 32‐year coach and the Queen of Kentucky Congress during her tenure at Scott County High. She was beloved by all who knew her and is still sorely missed.

Nomination letters are due to Michael Robinson no later than 4 PM CT Friday, March 16 (in person or by mail or by e-mail or by fax). Please nominate your worthy seniors for these honors.
