Nebraska North and South NSDA BQD Qualifier

2017 — Omaha, NE/US

Big Questions Debate Qualifier Tournament: Nebraska North and Nebraska South

April 1, 2017 @ Millard West High School

This qualifier event is open to any student who is both a member of the NSDA and not already qualified to NSDA nationals in another event. The champion of each district's double elimination tournament will be qualified for NSDA Nationals in Birmingham!

Entry Limits: 3 per school with a total entry cap of 20 per district
If we do not hit the 20 total competitors mark, schools at 3 entries will be permitted to add another, and we will repeat that additional entry process until we hit 20 or run out of interested programs.

Entry Fees: This tournament is free to enter!

Judge Requirements: Schools need to provide one judge per two entries or part thereof. A team entering 1 or 2 students would need to bring 1 judge, and a team entering 3 students would need to bring 2 judges. HOWEVER, the district will pay these judges with grant funds earned by merely hosting this event! Ultimately, we need your help to get quality judges to the tournament, but the district committees will pay judges $20 per round judged or a minimum of $40 for the day if they judge two or fewer debates. Because the district is paying judges, judges are obligated throughout the tournament.

Computer Use and Evidence Rules: Computers may be used in all debate events.  Students must know and adhere to all rules about shutting off the WiFi on their devices. Please review these rules in the handbook. Remember, the new NSDA debate evidence rules are fully in effect this season.

Lunch/Concessions: While lunch will not be served at Millard West for competitors, there will be ample time in the schedule for teams to grab lunch at one of the many nearby restaurants. Judges will have donuts, coffee, and fruit available to them in the morning and snacks and sodas in the afternoon. The districts will also provide water bottles for students.
