Directions to Oaks Christian HS:  

Coming from the 101 going west (out of LA), exit at Lindero Canyon Rd.  Turn right and go to the first light (Via Colinas)  Turn left and go to the first light (Via Rocas)  Turn left and go to the second drive way (the first behind Calvary church)  turn right and go until you enter the underground parking garage.  The High School building will be on your left.  Go up the stairs from the parking garage, turn right, walk downhill, then left and to the front of the building which is directly across from the Gymnasium.  Directions will be posted as to where to go. 

 

Coming from the 101 going east (out of Ventura),  exit at South Westlake Blvd.  Turn left and go over interstate.  At the first light turn right (E Thousand Oaks Blvd).  Go to the second light and turn right (S. Lakeview Canyon Rd) Go to the stop sign before another bridge crossing interstate.  Turn left (La Tienda Rd.)  turn left into the school and go up the hill.  A parking garage is at the top of the hill.  Walk down the hill to the front of the school, across from the gymnasium.  Directions will be posted as to where to go. 

Novice Debater:  A student who is debating for the first year in high school.  If it is a team event, both students must be novices.  If a student has debated in either Parli, Public Forum, Policy, or LD in previous years while in high school, they are no longer a novice in debate.

Fees: $30.00 per Policy, Parli,  & Public Forum team, $15.00 per LD.  Make checks Payable to Tri-County Forensics League.

8:30 - 9:30 Judge Orientation

9:30 - 11:30 Rd I

11:30 - 1:30 Rd II

1:30 - 2:00 Lunch Break

2:00 - 4:00 Rd III

Note: Food will be sold between rounds. Do not leave campus.

Awards to follow immediately after last round!

Debate Topics:

Policy topic:
"Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially curtail its domestic surveillance."

LD topic:
"Resolved: Adolescents ought to have the right to make autonomous medical choices."

October Public Forum Debate Topic:
"Resolved: The United States Federal Government ought to pay reparations to African Americans."

Parli topics displayed 20 minutes before round.

Judges: Each school is obligated to provide one qualified judge per every 2 Policy, Parli, & Pofo teams,* and one qualified judge per every 4 LD entries.* Don’t forget varsity students can judge. If your judging quota is not met, your entries may be dropped. Judges should bring pens, flow pads, and stopwatches.
