Competition

The IFL Season Opener will offer competition in all Iowa speech and debate events, splitting between novice and varsity divisions in debate and potentially splitting divisions in speech if entry numbers allow.

Entry Fees

Each student entry will be $10.00 for an individual event and $20.00 for partner events.

Judge Requirements

A debate judge covers two debate entries.

A speech judge covers 6 entries.

A congress judge covers 5 entries.

Uncovered entries are strongly discouraged. An uncovered debate judge will be charged a fee of $100, and an uncovered speech or congress judge will be charged a fee of $50.

Food

Pizza will be provided by the IFL for lunch. Snacks will also be available for purchase.
