Hello Colleagues,

You and your Policy Debaters are cordially invited to attend the New Trier Season Opener debate tournament, held at New Trier’s beautiful Northfield Campus on October 10, 11, and 12, 2015. Please note that this is a change from previous years. The 2015 tournament will begin on Saturday with the quarterfinals through finals taking place Monday, October 12th. Debates on Saturday and Sunday will be held at the Northfield Campus (7 Happ Road, Northfield, IL, 60093). Monday's debates will take place at the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel (933 Skokie Blvd, Northbrook, IL, 60062). 

The New Trier Season Opener is proud to be a Tournament of Champions Qualifying Bid at the Quarterfinal level in Policy Debate.

Every school is invited to enter up to four teams in the Policy Debate division. Registration will open on www.tabroom.com on Tuesday, August 25^th. Additional entries will be placed on a wait list and will be admitted into the tournament as space becomes available. We will begin moving teams off the wait list September 8th. If you need to buy plane tickets or have extenuating circumstances please contact David Weston ASAP.

Last year, approximately 100 teams participated in Policy Debate from 11 states. We pride ourselves on the fact that we have increased the quality of competition every year – last year the quarterfinalists would go on to earn several TOC bids. We are confident that we will once again attract quality participants and quality judges.

We will give the Linda Oddo Speaker Award again this year. Linda spent her career dedicated to the education of young speakers and debaters. We are pleased to honor the contributions of such a passionate educator and coach as part of our tournament.
