SCDL 2026 PACKAGE DEAL @ ARCADIA HS

IMPORTANT: You must enter each student in BOTH Morning Speech and Afternoon Congress. Each student will be in 2 events

8:00 am - 3:30 pm

Where: Arcadia High School

Entries are due by Friday, September 18th at 5:00pm

******This tournament is open to member schoolsof the Southern California Debate League for all students in grades 9-12.********

This is a NO preparation needed tournament. Arcadia will provide all of the scripts, articles, congress bill, topics, etc.

Events: Baby Extemporaneous, Impromptu, Dramatic/Humorous Interpretation, Congress. This will be separated into two categories: MORNING SPEECH and AFTERNOON CONGRESS.

Divisions: This tournament is open to NOVICE (FIRST year) high school speakers only. Varsity students may judge.


In consideration forparticipation in events sponsored or run by the Southern California Debate League (SCDL), I hereby expressly and irrevocably grant SCDL and its assigns, successors, licensees, affiliates, and designees (collectively the “Association”) the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right, license, and permission to use my name, image, likeness, voice, appearance, biographical information, statements, performance, and/or testimonials (collectively, the “Appearance”) in all forms and media including composite or modified representations for all purposes, including advertising, promotion, trade, or any commercial or non-commercial purpose throughout the world in perpetuity.The foregoing right and license extends to my Appearance in any video or audio recordings, photos, and any other media, how known or later developed, that are created in connection with any Association events and/or activities in which participate, whether in person or virtually.I waive the right to inspect or approve versions of my Appearance used for publication or the written copy that may be used in connection with the Appearance or such publication.

Round 1--8:00 Baby Extemp

Round 2--9:15 Humorous/Dramatic Interp

Round 3--10:30 Impromptu

Lunch 11:30-12:30

Round 4--12:45 Congress

Awards: 2:00

COACH REQUIREMENT:

The Coach or representative MUST be contact-able throughout the entire tournament in case any issues arise.

IF You, the coach of record, are NOT going to be attending the tournament, you must send either an employee representing your school and have them check in your team at the beginning of the tournament or

IF You, the coach of record, are sending a volunteer and/or parent to care for your team. You MUST have a letter from your school, signed by your principal indicating the person you are sending is the official "chaperone" of your team for the day. The letter must be turned in to the tournament director prior to the beginning of the tournament. Failure to do so may result in your student not being allowed to compete

WHOMEVER you put in charge of your team should have the student emergency medical forms/permission slips/parent contact forms for your team. Protect your students, yourself and your "representative."
