Bon Homme Invitational
2026 — Tyndall, SD/US
Main
Bon Homme Oral Interp team is excited to host our third competition--it will be even better than ever! Our invitational will be held on Friday, October 23rd. The focus is to allow students to get some rounds in with quality feedback at an inexpensive cost to schools.
The schedule for the tournament will be as follows:
8:15am Schools may begin check-in
8:40am General Meeting(students); dismiss students to find rooms
8:45am General Meeting (coaches and judges)
9:00am Round 1 of all other events
10:10ish am Round 2 of all other events
11:20ish am Round 3 of all other events
12:40ish Awards
Students may enter two events—we cannot accommodate triple entries. If a student is entered in RT and another event, it will be very important that they follow the rules when they should perform the RT and the other event.
I will be using Tabroom to schedule and run the tournament. This is also where you will submit your entry. You can go to
http://bonhommeinterp.tabroom.com/ to set up an account and register. You can also have students link to the accounts. We will be blasting out the schedule and it will give you a more in depth look at results after the tournament. Registrations are due by October 20. Fees will be set on October 20 at 4:00 PM. No additions after that and you must pay for all drops after that date. Please make sure you double check your entries. NO STUDENTS WILL BE ADDED AT TOURNAMENT TIME!
Please note: We have had to add a cap on entries due to running out of space. If you have a student who has been waitlisted, they are NOT registered for the tournament. If an entry becomes available, I will reach out to let you know! It is imperative that you personally let me know ASAP if you have a drop after October 20th so that I can get waitlisted students in.
The cost for the tournament is $4 for individual entries, $6 for duo, and $15 for Reader’s Theater. You are required to cover 1 judge for every 5 entries. (Please note, each RT or Duo counts as one entry. It is not based on the number of students entered.) This means if you have 2 Duos, 1 RT, 2 HI, and 2 Storytelling, you will need to bring 2 judges.
Schools will need to supply their own judges. I can supply a few hired judges at a rate of $80 per judge. Please let me know if you need help with this. If you are bringing an inexperienced judge to fill your roster, please do two things: First, encourage them to watch the NFHS video that the SDHSAA sends out for judges doing the state events. Second, please tell me in the comments for the judge’s preferences. I will try to keep them in the events that are discussed in the video. If you have extra judges, please let me know and I will contact schools in need. If this is an issue, please contact me ahead of time so that we can work something out.
Concessions: We will have breakfast and light snack concessions available; however, we will not have lunch concessions. There are very few eating establishments in Tyndall, so you may want to stop somewhere on the way home for more dining options. We have a Casey's but you will want to order ahead of time as they typically don't have much prepared. BoHo Press is our amazing coffee shop on the corner of the highway!
