Welcome to the Citron Online Extemp Debate & Sync Speech Tournament
Thank you for joining the Citron Online District! Our monthly online tournaments are open to competitors from across the United States and around the world. All competition is conducted live online via Zoom, allowing students to compete without travel or a weekend commitment.

Entry Fees & Judging Obligations

Entry Fee: $10 per entry
-
Judge Requirement: One qualified judge is required for every five (5) entries or fraction thereof.

Judge Buyout: $45 per required judge.

Speech Events
UNITED STATES & INTERNATIONAL EXTEMPORANEOUS SPEAKING

Two preliminary rounds followed by one final round.
-
Competitors report to the virtual Prep Room at 6:00 PM ET.

Topics are assigned by the proctor.
-
Thirty (30) minutes of preparation time is provided.
-
All current NSDA United States Extemporaneous Speaking rules apply.
IMPROMPTU SPEAKING
-
Two preliminary rounds.
-
Three randomly assigned topics.
-
Seven (7) minutes total preparation and speaking time.
-
Minimum speech length: 3:00 (30-second grace period).
Tournament Policies
NUISANCE FEES
To help tournaments run efficiently and on schedule, Citron assesses a $20 nuisance fee per infraction for:

Late registration
-
No-show competitors without prior notice
-
Failure to provide required judges
-
Failure to purchase required judge buyouts
Nuisance fees are not assessed when a competitor is withdrawn with at least eight (8) hours' notice before the tournament begins.
These policies help ensure a smooth experience for all competitors, judges, and coaches.
