Invitational Speech Tournament

Dear Friends,

You are cordially invited to the 10th Annual Screamin' Eagles Speech Tournament on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Our goal is to give your students a good opportunity to perform in the quickest possible manner.

This tournament is for high school students in 9th through 12th grade

Students may enter up to 3 (THREE) events. NOTE: Students do so at their own risk. We cannot re-run rounds for students who miss a round. Students missing a round will be given last place in that round.

This tournament is open to all high school degree-granting institutions.

We are NOT accepting independent entries

We will offer three rounds and a final in all California H.S. speech events: Oratory, Informative, Advocacy, Extemp, Impromptu, Drama, Humor, POI, OPP, Declamation and Duo in both Varsity and Novice Divisions.

ANOVICE student is any competitor in their first year of high school speech competition.

This tournament will be in person on the campus of Gabrielino HS, in San Gabriel, CA

ADULT COACH/COACH:Each team must have a school approved adult coach/chaperone on campus for immediate contact throughout the tournament.

SCHOOL VERIFICATION: Every school entering that is NOTa member of the Southern California Debate League (SCDL) OR any school that hasNOTattended our tournament in the past must submit the School Verificationform - located on the right side of this page - by to October 4th or risk having their entire entry dropped.

JUDGES:Schools are required to bring 1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof.

SCHEDULE:(tentative) each event will speak during 3 of the 4 time slots. Exact schedule posted closer to the actual tournament time

Time Slot #1: First speaker begins speaking @ 8am

Time Slot #2: First speaker begins speaking @ 9:45am

Time Slot #3: First speaker begins speaking @ 11:30am

Time Slot #4: First speaker begins speaking @ 1pm

Finals: First speaker begins speaking @ 3:45pm

Awards 5:45pm

FEES: Each entry is $12. (Duo $25) Fees will be frozen at 3pm (PST) on Monday, October 12.

There will be a $30 school fee

REGISTRATIONwill begin at 7:15 A.M. and end at 7:45A.M.by the adult coach/chaperone listed.

AWARDSAwards will be given to the top 6 entries in each event, each division and presented at the awards (OUTSIDE) ceremony in the covered eating area.

Drops/Name changes can be made on the website until Monday, Oct 12 @ 6pm

Fees are frozen at 6pm on Monday, Oct. 12

HIRED JUDGES :e-mail yuilld@sgusd.net and we may be able to cover some of your judges for the added fee of $150 per judge.
