Asynchronous Events FAQ

Why Compete Asynchronously?

Asynchronous competition doesn’t replace live tournaments — it strengthens them. At CCHS, we use it to earn NSDA points, gather meaningful feedback, and build skills in a lower-stakes environment that translates directly to stronger live performances.

Team Development
Focused recording practice builds cohesion, encourages collaboration, and sharpens skills students carry into every tournament.

Exploration & Growth
Without double-entry restrictions, students can try new events and find where they shine. Limited prep events especially push growth — debaters exploring extemp, interp students trying improv, newer competitors building confidence. These often become highlights of the season.

Recording & Editing
Students may record and edit non-limited prep events for Charger Challenge. Focusing on the best take builds repetition and refinement.

Integrity & Expectations
Coaches ensure students follow event rules, particularly in limited prep events such as Extemp.

Flexibility
Judging can be spread across days and adjusted by schedule — making participation more manageable than a full weekend commitment.

Finals/Awards/Ties
Elimination rounds will be added where needed based on entry size. In the event of ties both students will be recognized & given awards.
