Elimination Rounds, Finals & TOC Speech Bids FAQ

Friday Night Debate Events:

Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum & Biq Question

• These events will have 4 preliminary rounds.
• Power matching will begin after Round 2.
• After 4 preliminary rounds, the top 10 competitors will advance to the Finals.

Policy Debate:

• 3 preliminary rounds will be held on Friday.
• 2 preliminary rounds will be held on Saturday.
• Advancement to elimination rounds will begin Saturday afternoon.
• Advancement will be to a two-round, panel-judged elimination series.

Saturday Speech Events:

Speech Events (UK TOC Speech Bid Tournament)

• Speech events will include:
• 3 preliminary rounds
• Semifinal round
• Final round
• Based on entry numbers, the top 3–6 competitors will earn a UK Tournament of Champions (TOC) bid.

Interp Events (UKTOC Bid Tournament)

• Interp events will include:
• 3 preliminary rounds
• Final round
• The top 1–3 competitors will earn a UK Tournament of Champions (TOC) bid.
